When will the PlayStation 5 be released?

Traditionally, new game consoles arrive in stores at about the same time. This often happens in November, just before the holiday season and Black Friday sales. It’s not a different story with the release of the PlayStation 5, which will become available on November 12th. Europe has to wait a bit longer before for the PlayStation 5 arrives a week later on 19th.

How much does the PlayStation 5 cost?

What you pay for a PlayStation 5 depends on which version you buy. Sony has announced two versions of the game console. The cheapest variant is supplied without a disk tray and costs 399 euros. You can only play games on it that you have purchased digitally from PlayStation Store. A version with a disk tray costs 499 euros.

Faster loading times and 4K resolution

On paper, the PlayStation 5 rises significantly above its predecessor on two points: resolution and loading times. Because the PlayStation 5 gets a specially designed SSD, games can be loaded much faster. You won’t have to wait as long, especially with large levels. In addition, the resolution has been increased to Ultra HD, which means that you can play games in 4K.

Technical specifications

  • CPU: AMD Zen 2, 8 cores at 3.5 GHz
  • GPU: Custom RDNA 2 10.28 TFLOPs, 36 CUs at 2.23 GHz
  • Memory: 16 GB GDDR6, 256-bit
  • Storage: 825 GB SSD

These games are playable upon appearance

When the PlayStation 5 is released, not all games that Sony has recently announced will be available. However, anyone with a PlayStation 5 can immediately get started with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Astro’s Playroom, Demon’s Souls, Destruction All Stars, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition, Fortnite, Godfall, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Observer: System Redux and Sackboy: A Big Adventure.

What about PlayStation 4 games?

The list of PlayStation 5 games that are immediately available is still somewhat limited. This is normal with the release of a new console. However, anyone with PlayStation 4 games can also play a large part of those games on the PlayStation 5. According to Sony, it concerns more than four thousand games. Sony has warned that some games may be buggy when played on PlayStation 5, as they are not optimized. Other games will work better on the more powerful console. Should you purchase the cheaper PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, you will only be able to play PlayStation 4 games purchased digitally due to the missing disc tray.
